Lord knows that depending on the style used, as well as
the section of California, Chardonnay can be a complete win
or lose with me; simply there are almost no shades of gray
between the extremes. I don't like overly oaked or buttery
chardonnay wines, and I have loved those from Central Coast
and Russian River, while also hating some wines from the
Russian River Valley.
This wine kind of stands in the middle, and it's
something that is neither too beautiful, nor too egregious;
it is just right in the middle. The flavors are demurely
there, but not there enough to overwhelm your palate. It
has an understated, and very mild complexity, making you
work your taste buds in order to discern the different
components, which leaves you with pineapple and a very light
green apple.
The body is somewhere in the middle, with a thickness
that sits on your tongue, but doesn't weigh too heavily.
This is a fairly decent wine, but not one that would make my
top ten list.
