While 7 Deadly Zins turned out to be as criminal as jaywalking, this wine scratched my Zinfandel itch... for now.

The color is deep purple, but I swear that it has a a little bit of a brown component to it. The smell reminds me of port, and that's most likely due to the high alcohol percentage. It is that rich aroma of wooden barrels that madeira is filled with.

The flavor is a mixture of both black cherries, dark plums, and just a little bit of anise (think licorice folks). While I had this wine with a well spiced steak, this would really be perfect with something slathered with a rich brown sauce. I think that game meats and wild poultry would be a wonderful compliment to this wine, as would chocolate cake make that journey down your gullet equally enjoyable as well.

This wine is definitely a baller, and I am sure the more that it breathes, the more I will love it.
