Albarino is a wonderful grape that seems to be just
making inroads into the American market right now. I
started seeing it turn up on shelves in the past two years
and occasionally on some wine lists. It has a
semi-effervescence and a minerally taste with just slight
citrus that kind of reminds you of Hoegaarden beer with a
lemon in it.
It's nice for food that is lightly spiced to just raw
veggies. It would be nice with a seafood salad as well.
However, this is not a wine with a lot of flavor, but
something more serene and settling. The slight
effervescence on your tongue is definitely a good aspect to it.
